Valle del Lunarejo: trails, ravines and nature
Valle del Lunarejo is a protected landscape in northern Rivera near Brazil. Flat-topped hills, ravines, waterways, forests and grasslands create one of Uruguay’s most distinctive natural environments and a very different trip from the coast.
Ravines, streams and biodiversity
The terrain combines steep slopes, caves, rock walls, waterfalls and subtropical-influenced vegetation. Its biodiversity rewards slow observation and responsible travel, including respect for trails, private property and changing ground conditions.
Planning trails and access
Many experiences use local guides or rural hosts and access can depend on weather. Suitable footwear, water, sun protection and checking roads or guide availability in advance matter much more here than arriving without a plan.
